IFE-SURE 2026
IFE-SURE 2026
The IFE-SURE 2026 Symposium brought together undergraduate students from across the country who spent the summer gaining hands-on research experience in inertial fusion energy (IFE).
Through the IFE-SURE program, students were hosted at 19 research institutions representing 34 universities, where they worked alongside scientists and engineers on projects supporting the growing U.S. IFE ecosystem. The program provided students with an opportunity to develop technical and professional skills while gaining firsthand experience in the research and innovation driving the future of fusion energy.
The 2026 Symposium, held August 2–4 at the Embassy Suites in Washington, D.C., brought together 70 students to present their summer research, connect with peers and mentors, and learn about opportunities in fusion science, engineering, and related fields.
IFE-SURE is designed to help build the next generation of scientists and engineers who will contribute to the development of a robust U.S. fusion energy workforce.
