AI Convergence & Simulations

The IFE scientific community is taking advantage of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission, an initiative focused on using AI, advanced computing, and scientific data to accelerate scientific discovery and energy innovation. The Genesis Mission aims to connect DOE’s supercomputers, research facilities, datasets, and AI capabilities into an integrated platform that can accelerate breakthroughs in areas such as fusion energy, advanced materials, nuclear energy, and national security.

For fusion, DOE describes an AI-Fusion Digital Convergence Platform (DCP) that would integrate plasma physics, materials science, nuclear engineering, and whole-facility modeling. The platform is intended to help researchers evaluate designs, predict performance and potential failure modes, optimize experiments, and eventually enable real-time control.
