IFE-SURE 2025

The inaugural IFE-SURE program brought together undergraduate students from across the country for a summer of hands-on research in inertial fusion energy. Students worked alongside researchers and mentors at participating universities and national laboratories, gaining valuable experience in fusion science, engineering, and related fields.

The program culminated in a capstone symposium at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville, where 50 undergraduate researchers presented their summer research, shared their experiences, and connected with peers, mentors, and leaders from across the growing U.S. IFE ecosystem.

IFE-SURE 2025 marked an important first step in building a national pipeline of students prepared to contribute to the future of inertial fusion energy.
